Gigs Setup

In this video you will learn how to add, edit and remove shows from your gig list.

Video Transcript.

Basic Settings

Log in to your site and from the toolbar hover over “Gigs” then click on “settings”. For the time being all we need to do is set your time zone. Other options on this page will be dealt with in a future video.

Set your time zone then scroll to the bottom and click on “Save changes”.

Removing the dummy shows

Next we will remove the dummy shows and venues. Go to Gigs then click on Shows.

Select all of the shows by clicking here. Then hit the “Trash selected shows” button to delete them.

Next click on the “Past” shows link and do the same again. Select them all then click the “Trash selected shows” button.

Removing the dummy artists

Next click on Artists and delete existing Artists by clicking on the “delete” link here. Note, you can’t delete artists until they have no shows so make sure that you have completed the previous step of deleting the shows.

Now you can add yourself as an artist. Just add your name in here and click on the “Add Artist” button to save the changes. There’s no real need to add a url in unless you have multiple sites.

Removing the dummy venues

Next we will do the same with venues. Go to Gigs -> Venues and delete any existing venues the same way we removed the artists. Click on each “Delete” link until they are all gone. If you have any regular venues that you appear at you can add them in at this time, or you can add them in as you enter shows if you prefer.

Adding your own shows in

Now we are ready to add some of your shows in. Click on Gigs -> “Add a show”

Fill in the date and a time if you have it. Pick yourself from the list of artists. Select the venue or add a new one in if it isn’t already in your system. Ticket buying information is optional but if you have it, add it in. You want to do everything you can to make it easy for people to buy a ticket.

Again, you don’t always need to fill out every single option on the form. The important ones are the date, the artist, the venue and where they can get tickets. Anything more than that is a bonus. Click on the “Add show” button to save it.

Now you can check out the gig on the front end of your site by clicking here. At the moment we are displaying upcoming gigs on the homepage of the site here and also on the gigs page.

Let’s go back to the dashboard by once again clicking here.

To edit a show you have already entered, click on “Shows” in the gigs menu then the “edit” link. Change whatever you need to change and then click on the “Update show” button at the bottom to save your changes. It’s a simple as that. Once a show has been entered there is no need to remove it or edit it once it has passed. The software will move it to the past gigs list automatically.
